Privacy Policy for Stopwise

This Privacy Policy explains how Stopwise: Journey Alarm (formerly Dozer) handles information when you use the app. It covers the app; use of this portfolio website is separate.

1. Data Controller

For the purposes of this policy, the app developer is the data controller for any personal data processed through the app.

2. Information We Process

Stopwise processes your device location, selected destination coordinates, saved place names and addresses, reminders, preferences, and journey and backup-timer state. It also checks relevant permission status to provide alerts. Saved app information is stored on your device. Weather and Apple services make network requests as described below. We do not intentionally collect or sell personal data for advertising.

3. How Data Is Used

Stopwise uses this information to calculate proximity, deliver alarms and reminders, show saved destinations and destination weather, and display journey information. Stopwise does not use it for marketing profiling.

4. Legal Basis (UK GDPR, where applicable)

Where UK GDPR applies, processing is carried out on the basis of performance of a contract (providing app features), legitimate interests (service security and reliability), and compliance with legal obligations where required.

5. Permissions

Stopwise requests location and notification permissions. Background location reminders require Always location access. On supported devices, the backup timer can request system alarm permission. You can change permissions in device settings; restricting them may prevent features or alerts from working.

6. Third-Party Services

When destination weather is requested, the chosen destination latitude and longitude are sent to OpenWeather for current conditions and forecasts. Weather images are also loaded from OpenWeather. Network requests expose information such as your IP address to the receiving service. Apple services support maps, place search, address lookup, purchases, notifications and system alarms under their own terms and privacy policies. Sharing a destination creates an Apple Maps link containing the place name and coordinates and passes it to the recipient or app you choose. Live Activities can display your destination and journey details on the Lock Screen.

7. Data Security

We use reasonable safeguards, but no method of storage or transmission is completely secure. You are responsible for securing your device.

8. Data Retention

You can remove saved favourites and reminders in the app. Removing a saved place may leave a cached address on the device. Deleting the app removes its local container data, subject to device backups and later restoration. Apple retains purchase records under its policies; deleting the app does not cancel a subscription. Other providers retain request information under their own policies.

9. International Transfers

Apple and OpenWeather may process information outside your country. Their privacy policies explain their processing locations and international-transfer arrangements.

10. Your Rights

Where applicable, you may have rights to access, rectify, erase, restrict, or object to processing, and to lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority.

11. Children

Stopwise is not directed to children under 13 and is not intended to knowingly collect personal data from children.

12. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Any changes take effect when posted with a revised effective date.
