Privacy Policy for Familial

Effective Date: April 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how Familial handles information when you use the app.

1. Data Controller

For the purposes of this policy, the app developer is the data controller for personal data processed in connection with the app. Storage and sync of your planner content rely on Apple iCloud; Apple processes data under its own terms and privacy policy when you use iCloud.

2. Information You Provide and Where It Is Stored

Familial may process calendars, meals, shopping lists, trips, reminders, notes, and related household planning data that you choose to add. That content is stored in your personal iCloud account (or otherwise on your device as configured). The developer does not operate a separate server or database to host your planner content.

3. How Information Is Used

Information is used to provide core app functionality, including organising, displaying, and syncing your shared family planning data in line with your iCloud settings.

4. Legal Basis (UK GDPR, where applicable)

Where UK GDPR applies, processing is carried out on the basis of performance of a contract (providing app features), legitimate interests (service integrity and improvement), and legal obligations where required.

5. Third-Party Services

Apple (including iCloud, the App Store, analytics, diagnostics, and payments where applicable) may process information under its own terms and privacy policies. We do not control those third-party practices.

6. Security

We apply reasonable technical and organizational safeguards in the app. iCloud security and availability are subject to Apple's measures. No method of storage or transmission can be guaranteed to be completely secure.

7. Data Retention

Data retention depends on your usage, device settings, iCloud behaviour, and whether you delete content in-app or via your Apple account. Where features allow, you can remove your records in the app.

8. International Transfers

If personal data is processed by third-party providers outside the UK, those providers are responsible for implementing suitable transfer safeguards under their own privacy frameworks.

9. Your Rights

Where applicable, you may have rights to access, rectify, erase, restrict, or object to processing, and to lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority.

10. Children

Familial is intended for adults who manage household planning. The app is not designed to include material inappropriate for children, but it is not directed at children under 13 and is not intended to knowingly collect personal data from children without appropriate parental involvement and platform rules.

11. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this policy periodically. Updated versions will be posted with a revised effective date.
